Backup as a Service (BaaS)

Keep your data safe

Securing data (Data Protection) is certainly among the most requested and most important services in the IT sector. There are several protection tools, the most widespread of which is Backup. Through our backup services you can secure your data with the latest and most effective technologies, capable of creating safe copies of data through different levels of incremental backup and integrity checks. In fact, it is not only important to run backups but also to monitor data integrity and verify that it is ‘consistent’, meaning that when needed it is actually possible to recover it, ideally within tight timeframes.

How safe is your data?

Are your backups consistent? If your question was ‘what is meant by consistent’ then our service is right for you, because at the moment your data is probably not as safe as you think. Running backups does not guarantee that recovery can be carried out simply and within tight timeframes. These factors cannot be left to chance, but must be studied based on a series of parameters, starting from the importance of the data (for example whether it is sensitive or not), the level of risk and the level of criticality arising from data loss.

For this reason, a preliminary analysis must be carried out to establish what objective the Disaster Recovery system should set itself, starting from Backup. Sundata supports you throughout this process, providing accurate consulting and solutions that fit your business reality, with an eye on your available budget.

How to choose the backup system that suits you

Sundata offers an analytical method for choosing your Backup solution, making its experience, expertise and professionalism available. Two useful reference parameters are the RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) values, as they determine how effective your system is in the event of a Disaster. By Disaster we mean ‘that unforeseeable event that causes the destruction or corruption of data (e.g. ransomware) or the machines that contain it (e.g. fire)’.

In IT, the purpose of a disaster recovery system is to achieve the lowest possible RPO. For example, a system providing an RPO value of 1 hour will allow you to go back in time, ‘recovering the state of the virtual machine (and therefore also the data) dating back to one hour before the Disaster’. The RTO, on the other hand, is the time it takes the system, assisted by technical staff, to become operational again and restart service delivery. So with an RTO = 2 hours, 2 hours of disruption are expected before restarting the services blocked by the Disaster.

When RPO = 0 and RTO is between 0 and a few minutes, we speak of Business Continuity. Obviously, the closer the RPO and RTO values tend to ZERO, the more the required budget calls for more sophisticated and often more costly systems. That is why our experts help you choose the solution that balances your needs with your budget.

How safe is your current Data Protection system?

The first phase of the consultancy allows us to measure the level of Data Protection currently in use. The analysis is usually carried out remotely or through a brief discussion with your IT team and provides initial information about the adequacy of your protection system in relation to your objectives. For a more in-depth analysis and report, you can turn to our Network & Security Assessment service.

How important is the data it protects?

This factor is critical to determining the correct RPO of the Backup system. In fact, based on the importance of the data to be protected, and in particular the criticality arising from even minimal data loss, the required budget and the optimal RPO will be sized.

How important is a rapid recovery of the data or of the IT services that manage it?

Many companies are convinced that simply having a backup copy in the Cloud is the ultimate solution to their problems. The real problem arises when, following a Disaster, the data must be recovered to restore services. Carefully evaluating security systems in advance, through the study of an appropriate strategy, is important to establish whether a system is truly designed correctly. For most companies, every day of delay in reactivating such services represents a far more costly damage than it would have been to secure the systems beforehand.

PRV

Private Cloud

A private IaaS service from one of Sundata’s Data Centers, perfect for those seeking a high level of IT management without having to worry about the “physical” management of the infrastructure and its TCO. It is also available in an On Premise version, which provides an infrastructure with the same characteristics as the Cloud (security, performance, manageability, scalability, resilience, at a fixed fee) installed on the company’s premises. Ideal for those who want to keep control of their data and IT resources within the company, but wish to delegate hardware management and pay a fixed fee. Both solutions are compatible with the leading business management software.

HYB

Hybrid Cloud

An IT architecture that integrates local resources with Cloud resources. This solution lets you enjoy the advantages of both approaches (Private and Public Cloud), distinguishing by type of data and business services. It is a highly customizable solution that allows you to move to the Cloud only the services that truly benefit from it, while keeping the rest on-premise. It is often the most cost-effective solution for the same results obtained in terms of performance, resilience, security and scalability. Ideal for those who want to balance their data between Public Cloud and Private Cloud. Compatible with the most important Management/Business Software.

PUB

Public Cloud

Cloud computing is an increasingly discussed and adopted model in the business sector; we support you in choosing the ideal Public Cloud for you and help you through the migration process. Moving your services to the Public Cloud has never been so easy and secure. Ideal for those who want to relocate 100% of their IT resources to standard infrastructures. Compatible with the most important Business/Management Software.
